If you are planning a trip to Puerto Rico, you might have some questions to help prepare for your trip. Here is a list of the top questions when planning a trip to Puerto Rico.
Planning a trip to Puerto Rico
1. Do you need a passport when traveling to Puerto Rico?
Puerto Rico is a territory of the US. Therefore, if you are a US citizen, the answer is no. The fact that you do not need a passport to travel to Puerto Rico as a US citizen makes Puerto Rico an ideal destination to visit for people looking for places to visit with less of a hassle. It is also a great location for anyone looking for the island vibe without having to deal with converting currencies.
2. Has Puerto Rico recovered from hurricane Maria?
The whole idea of answering has Puerto Rico recovered from the hurricane is a loaded question. Where we stayed in Condado Beach, San Juan, Puerto Rico, you likely would say “what hurricane?!”. There is virtually no evidence of the hurricane in the touristy areas in San Juan and Old San Juan. However, throughout the rest of the country, the answer is quite different. Read more about that here.
3. Do Uber or Lyft operate in Puerto Rico?
Uber is available in Puerto Rico, although according to the drivers this is mostly limited to San Juan. Lyft is unavailable in Puerto Rico as of December 2019. If you want to go outside of the San Juan area, it is best to rent a car.
