UPDATE July 2019: It appears that this specific Travelpro may not be available, look at this one on Amazon instead.

If we are friends on Facebook, you probably saw that back in July I was looking for luggage feedback as it was time for me to replace mine. I appreciate the recommendations from everyone. I previously had a Delsey roller board bag that made it through the first 174 flights of 2017 and most of my 78 flights in 2016 so it served me well, however I was looking to upgrade. After some careful consideration I decided to go with the Travelpro International Sized Carry On and I wanted to do a Travelpro Spinner Carry On Review.

Here is what the Travelpro International Sized Carry On looks like:

My Travelpro Spinner Carry On Review:

        1. There are a few reasons why I decided to try the Travelpro before exploring the other options such as Tumi, Away, etc. The first is that most airline crews utilize Travelpro brand luggage. I know this is provided to them by the airlines, however I’m sure there would be quite a bit of uproar if they were not durable or functional. As a side note, the Travelpro luggage utilized by the crews are the uprights and not the spinners. If you haven’t noticed, these uprights (two wheels/not spinners) have more space in the luggage compartment since they don’t need it for the extra two wheels. The other reason I opted for the Travelpro is the price. As of today, the Blue Travelpro International Carry On Spinner pictured above is $88.11 on Amazon. Contrast this with the Tumi Internation Carry On Spinner that is $645 on Amazon. As someone who flies 300+ times a year, I have no problem justifying expensive luggage but why not try out something a little less pricey first.
        2. The first thing I noticed about the luggage is that it does seem to be a quality piece. The zippers are more sturdy than my prior Delsey and the fabric is nice. The handle also feels very comfortable.
        3. When I got the chance to use the luggage, I noticed right away that these spinners really work. It’s like they are rolling themselves. This is a big deal for people who are in airports a lot, especially if you are putting a personal item on top with a trolley sleeve (see below picture if you don’t know what that means). When you have your personal item sitting on your carry on, if the spinner wheels don’t work well, it will make your bag top-heavy and difficult to roll through the airport. With this bag I usually feel like I am gently pushing it through the airport rather than lugging it everywhere.
        4. One last exciting point for this luggage was the color. Because 80% of my travel is for business and I want to remain professional, I am hesitant to get luggage that sticks out, despite the fact that nothing would make me happier than a cute pink bag. However, I was able to purchase this in a blue color that is still fairly unique, making it less likely to get mixed up when I have to check it or valet tag the bag

Here is an example of a bag with a trolley sleeve. It just so happens to be the one that I have myself:

After utilizing this Travelpro International Carry On for about a month, I decided to purchase both a slightly larger carry on sized Travelpro (Travelpro Maxlite 4 21″ Explandable Spinner) for my trips that are a little longer as well as a Travelpro checked bag size (Travelpro Maxlite 4 25″ Expandable Spinner) because I was so happy with my purchase. Hopefully you found this Travelpro Spinner Carry On Review to be helpful! Let me know if you purchase it what you think!
