At the beginning of 2020, I made a goal to read one book per month and listen to one audiobook per month and then write a blog post on each. Despite this being a travel blog, travel still allows a for a lot of down time that can be spent productively. So I wrote a post about You are a Badass at Making Money to review the book since I listened to in February.
And then along came COVID.
I was trying to decide if it seemed insensitive to post a You are a Badass at Making Money review. There are tons of people out of jobs and without livelihoods at the current moment. The idea of telling someone that they can live in abundance seemed a bit contradictory to the current reality.
However, then I realized that this was the entire point of the book.
Jen Sincero is also the author of “You are a Badass” which I reviewed here.
By not publishing a review, I would miss the point of the book completely. So here I am.
If you have a bad relationship with money. If you feel like there is an inherent us vs. them surrounding money. Or if you just want to figure out how to make more moolah, this book (or audio) is for you.
A word of caution: Although you probably gathered this from the title of the book, I wanted to make sure it was noted that “badass” is not the only bad word used in this book. If you are unable to look past the language, this book is probably not for you.
You are a Badass at Making Money Review – Background
Jen Sincero is also the author of “You are a Badass” which I reviewed here. However, this book can be read independently. In the first several chapters of You are a Badass at Making Money, you get to the bottom of your current situation. How did you get here with money? What are your beliefs around money? What does your subconscious say about money?
Many of your core beliefs about money are likely there without you even noticing them. (Hint: This is the case with many core beliefs.) You have accepted these beliefs to be true and are now acting on these beliefs. After uncovering how you feel about money, the book then goes on to help you make permanent changes.
You are a Badass at Making Money Review – Becoming Rich
When you read the words “becoming rich” did it make you cringe?
Even just a little?
This likely goes back to the background section surrounding beliefs about money. You will have to identify these first in order to make any changes. However once you do, you’re ready to move forward into becoming wealthy.
One of the first new beliefs you will be asked to accept is that money is neither good nor bad. Instead money is a medium of exchange. There is of course significantly more detail in the book. In the meantime, if you have held a belief that “money is the root of all evil” then you likely could use this as a replacement belief.
This book doesn’t just cover changing your beliefs, it also reviews action steps so you can implement your plan towards becoming wealthy. This helps you conclude the book with both a changed mindset and direction.
Why you should read this book
Earlier in this post, I highlighted that this book was for you if you have a bad relationship with money. If you feel like there is an inherent us vs. them surrounding money. Or if you just want to figure out how to make more moolah.
If you feel like you fit into these categories, you aren’t alone. Many people have beliefs surrounding money that are not serving them. Reading (and taking action on) this book will change that.
Special note: If you read this far and are interested in reading/or listening to this book but don’t have the funds, I would be happy to send it to you. Please reach out to me via the email on the “Contact Us” page.
